Has anyone been using the F-mount version of this lens on the Z9?

With some F-Mount lenses operating in some cases better than on a DSLR, was curious if anyone was using this combo & how you were finding it?

It’s a lens I’m looking to purchase, but won’t be a lens that I’ll use everyday.

I was also going to ask for your opinion on lens choice as I will be using the 24-70 as a general landscape lens?

Thanks

Why are you thinking of getting the 24-70 f2.8E VR instead of the Z 24-70 f2.8S? I suppose it may be cheaper, but long term I would seriously consider the Z version as it doesn't require the FTZ, it is smaller, lighter and has better overall IQ etc.

I owned and adapted the G version of the 24-70 when I first got my Z9 and it was okay. I upgraded to the Z 24-70 f/2.8 and all I can say is wow. Noticeable difference in my opinion to the adapted lens. I'm assuming its because the Z mount lens resolve so much more than the F mount lens did. Even the Z f/4 version of the lens is fantastic if you don't need the extra stop of light. It is worth waiting and purchasing either of these in my opinion.

It will be a lens that I won’t use everyday but a lens I’ve been promising myself for a while & with the recent result’s with F-mount glass with the adapter was curious as to if this should be an Avenue to explore as a cheaper option.

I think if I was going To use the lens on a regular basis then I agree the S lens would be the way to go, but I’m looking at all options as don’t want a £2000 + lens sit in my bag for 80% of the time.

If you don't need the F/2.8 then the F/4 Z version is also a great lens and you can get one on the used market cheap.

Have a dozen FF F mount glass from Tamron, Sigma, and of course, Nikon. I have used several of them on the Z9 with FTZ II adapter and all have performed as good, if not better, than on my D850. I have a Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 G2, which performs flawlessly. For Landscapes, I generally use a Sigma 14-24mm f/2.8 Art, which has also performed flawlessly on the Z9. If you are hiking in, you might want to consider the f/4 version, which is smaller and lighter. I usually put a 24mm f/1.8 and either a 35mm f/1.8 or 50mm f/1.8 in my photo backpack for landscapes.

I've used my old 24-70 f2.8 G lens on my Z6ii + FTZii with no issues at all other than the weight at around 900 gms after getting used to using my Fuji system or a Sony a7ii with vintage manual focus lenses a lot prior to my getting the Z6ii.

The camera did feel unbalanced too with the FTZ pushing the lens out but I suspect this won't be as noticeable with a Z9.

I’m in the process of moving to North Wales & wanted a lens to capture some of the stunning landscapes that we’ve seen & thought the 24-70 would be a good all rounder albeit not as wide as some would prefer.

Watching some of the YouTube videos on using F-Mount glass on a Z9 just thought this may be an option.

Really appreciate the feedback, keep it coming.

Thanks.
