Nikon Repair Time?

Hi all,
With the current COVID stuff going on, I'm wondering if anyone has sent an item to Nikon USA for repair recently. The website says that the Los Angeles facility is still closed, so the only option seems to be New York. The VR on my 200-500 just stopped working today, and I'm wondering how long it might take Nikon to do a repair right now. I'm assuming things are pretty backed up.

2020, what a year, huh? :)

If you call they will give you an estimate of how long... also there are a couple of really good non-Nikon options... Midwest camera repair in michigan, and Authorized Photo Service north of Chicago. both are highly regarded. and a bonus if you are close to either.

Hi,
Just a shot in the dark here and if you've tried this already, I apologize in advance: Have you tried cleaning the contacts at the base of your lens and on the mounting ring of your camera?
The reason I ask is that I had a similar problem to yours a few years ago, though with a different Nikon lens and I found that cleaning the contacts brought the VR function back to life. I was only embarrassed by how long it took me to think of doing it!
cheers,
Alex

I will do that before sending it off, thanks for the reminder. That worked with my old 300mm f/4 years ago.

I have used APS in the past, thanks for the idea!
