Nikon z6 flash greyed out

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

What flash do you have on the camera? The built in flash menus only work with the latest Nikon flashes. Older ones are controlled by the flash (or the transmitter, if that is what your are using).

I’m using sb900 the funny thing is I have used this once before and the flash worked fine, now it’s greyed out, I used 2 flashes before with Yongnuo flash triggers and all worked fine, now scratching my head

To get i-TTL flash on a Z6 or Z7 you must use an SB-300, SB-400, SB-500, SB-600, SB-700, SB-800, SB-900, SB-910, SB-5000, or SB-R200.

To use the Flash control menu on the Z6 or Z7, you must have an SB-300, SB-400, SB-500, or SB-5000 mounted in the hot shoe.

Not in silent mode already read up on that, and already had it working once but not when I went back to use it, using sb900,s with youngnuo Wireless triggers just don’t make sense

I’m using the WR-R10 with the SB5000 flash and can’t get the flash to sync with my Z7. The transmitter is synced for the shutter release but it won’t fire the flash. Anyone know what I’m doing wrong? Camera settings are all on and silent shooting is off. Compared all settings to my D850 which works fine.

Thanks, for your comments. No not shooting in continuous high. Turns out my problem was that I didn’t upgrade the firmware on my speed lights. There was an update that added the Z cameras. Hopefully, once I update the firmware, I’ll be good to go!
