NPS & Tiers & The Z9

Hi all,

Admittedly with the Z9 I'm in the "take my money is it here yet is it here yet" camp of a kid at Christmas. Looking forward to owning it and am working with a local camera shop where I'm on the list.

Over the summer I was accepted into NPS. I opted for the free level.

However I know you can pay $300 for the Platinum level. It would be offset by a discount of $300 on the Z9 per NPS's website.

There are other benefits too, but my main thinking is would there be any benefit for your place in line on the Z9? Or is it simply you think based just on being a member at any level of NPS?

I'm thinking might as well join if it's a wash on the price for the discount. But main thing is this like slipping the usher a few bucks to get a better seat?

Thanks for any insights,

Paul

I don't know the answer to your question but out of curiosity, what did you have to provide to show you qualified as a "pro"? I never went through the process because most years I don't have any photographic income because my time is volunteered pro-bono to NGOs and charities (I do charge for-profit organizations though but I don't do much of that anymore).

They just want to know what gear you own, if you have a website, what you do with the photos, etc. It seemed a little lengthy.

I wouldn't call myself a "pro" by any means; however I have a website, I write and submit for a magazine (Nature Photographer Magazine), submit and am in calendars, do various competitions in clubs, etc like many others on here. They also want to know each item you own of course so my guess is it comes down to how much have you spent with Nikon over the years. I think it's basically like a casino, the more you spend, the nicer they are to you and you go from a free drink to a free buffet voucher if you gamble more :)
