How are NPS orders treated for revenue by Nikon USA; are they revenue for the local camera store or are they just the delivery agent? This could impact the allocation between NPS and the local stores- the stores will have major complaints if they don't get any cameras for a long period while Nikon fills all the NPS orders

NPS orders are not that large or disproportionate by comparison don't worry Nikons resepcting the retail market.
They are bumping production........to do so as i hear.

My NPS order Z9, FTZ II, 100-400 will be shipped to the Store where I placed the deposit. NPS received my purchase order number issued by the store. Today I received a email from NPS that the FTZII has been shipped to the Store. The store will notify me when the Order arrives and they will hold the FTZ II until the Z9 arrives. Just receiving the email from NPS that part of the order has shipped is welcoming news.

Interesting to see the people for whom the Z9 is the first Z camera. I guess I'm way more "priviledged" since I have a Z6 II. Given the likely delays/backlog with the Z9, I can spend my days betting whether I get the Z9 first or a firmware update for it :D

I’ll be showing my Z7 II some love while waiting for the Z9. In fact it’s going along for a ride to Cape Disappointment at the Washington Coast to photograph that forecasted 16’ Surf pounding the Cliffs.

Hah, I haven't travelled to US since Covid started. I haven't been that south (to Cape Disappointment), but I've been around the Olympic Peninsula and it's a very, very nice area. If I had to move to US, PNW would definitely be at the top of my choices. Writes down Cape Disappointment as place to visit.

I've read that some NPS orders are actually delivered through retail outlets, and are added to any pre-orders the retailer had in place previously. I have no idea how these orders are paid for.

I’m just a 45 min drive to Cape D and it’s very popular location for Winter Storm Photography.

Z9 delivery road map, as i understand.

Orders will be delivered fairly and strictly based on the order they were received and appear on the first allocation list .......................no exceptions.

In my case If you didn't have you order in by 8th of November for the first allocation of units you would have to wait till 2022 next allocation that had no time line and could be any where up to 6 months or more.....as retail orders need and will be respected.

You will be contacted that
a) you payment in full is required to effect delivery, or that allocation moves onto the next person on the list.
b) any allocations not taken up will go immediately to retail.

Nikon's delivery allocation and shipment globally will be fair and preprotionate.............

For myself It will be what it will be.......i am not in a hurry and have all the time in the world.

I did get in before the 8th of November and paid the full order price so i assume its simply in and out.

I welcome the Z9 and will allow time to grow into the new system with an open mind, if it compliments my needs and application that's fantastic.
If not its on Gum Tree.
interesting. How much if speculation, educated assessment, or solid knowledge?

I had never heard of it so I had to look it up and it seems like a very striking stretch of coast!
Cape Disappointment never disappoints me when those 16-20’ rollers hit the cliffs. Won’t need the Birds Eye Focus from the Z9 but the 20 FPS will work just find thank you.

wonderful water action. Where is cape D?
Cape Disappointment is at the mouth of the Columbia River on the Washington side. The locals call it Cape D and the US Coast Guard has a Naval Station there which is the largest in the Northwest. It’s a Life Boat Training and Rescue School. The Mouth of the Columbia River Bar is the most dangerous on the West Coast.

been close to it on the oregon side, Astoria. Next time I'll cross the bridge and head west. I'll be seeing my youngest brother and famlly over Christmas. I'll if I can get a day orr as my Christmas present.

Some snaps from the archives, showing what the old cameras did, brings back some memories.
Not 5 star but memorable.
Note negative space is for text or graphic logos to be added......

No eye focus or facial tracking just good old fashioned focusing the organic way LOL

The Calf wrangling, i wonder what the Z 9 will do, facial recognition of the cowboys face or the face and eye of the calf, cant wait to find out....LOL

Nikon DF 16mp and D7100 24mp on the 300 2.8 vrII TC x2III 600mm f5.6 all at 5 to 6 fps matrix 20 points -07ev, at the time i lent the D5 and 600 f4 to my assistant.
Surfing shots cropped heavily, haze at 600mm was challenging at times....when the wind dropped.
I only ever pop 1, 2, no more than 3 shots at any time in high consecutive. Understanding the subject helps with that immensely. My mate with his D5 hammers endlessly...not for me LOL.

I had a A9 for a trial and 20 fps was just to much and i wound it back to 10 fps, i have not liked spray and shot.....i find for me 9, 11, 14fps is plenty.......
Shutter Black out never bothers me.
I like focus attacking speed in the pro cameras ....... 30 or 120 fps.....i don't want to get 3000 shots to wade through on every shoot......

Looking forward to what the Z9 will bring to the table.

DF 16mp 300 2.8vrII TCx2III F5.6 600mm 5fps lots of haze whites a bit harsh but can be edited if needed. Most importantly Carissa is doing her magic.
The DF is my street camera but backs up anytime for anything.......yes its a DF but sorry i love it......its a D4/D4s in my pocket just not 11fps but that hasn't bothered me.

D7100 300 2.8 VRII TC x2III F5.6 600mm 5 or 6 fps from memory. Shooting almost into the sun.....

DF 16mp 300 2.8vrII TC x2III F5.6 600mm 5fps hand held graphics fits in negative space....

Nice to see what the cameras we used used to do........looking forward to the Z9 experience.

I have never used tracking as i have never had the need, i bought a Z9 so it will be interesting to see what it will do for me.
Love the D850 to bits as an all rounder i don't have one complaint about the D850 as it lets me enjoy what i do, sold the D5 and 600 f4 ages ago.....
The D850 200-500 works really well.....yes nothing beats the exotic glass.......but i rent it if and when needed.

This might have been shared last month, or even on 28 October. This is in Japanese but it has coherent subtitles.

This young lad must be a prominent personality in Japan, because Nikon gave him a prototype for 1 month (+ a beta release of NX Studio). He is clearly experienced, with previous Nikon MILCs (since starting off a few years ago with a D90!). Interesting he found a few unfamiliar features using a Nikon pro flagship ILC for the first time: including ENEL18's and the size/weight; but he found his fear about the Z9 being too heavy to have been a storm in a yunomi.

One key conclusion of this review is the interesting point of how the Z9 demonstrates Nikon is not holding back with FX MILC specs, because they have no cinema cameras to protect from becoming obsolescent. Bottom line - it does indeed sound like the Z9 is the best video ILC yet.

As this was released on 28 Oct, we have since left key uncertainties behind us: including optimal cards, EVF performance, "which ENEL18* versions?", battery life etc etc.
The final 3 minutes are a pithy synopsis of Nikon's status and trajectory to their new status with best ever Nikkor lenses, best video in ILCs, and the best flagship ILC ever made. Finally, kudos to the reviewer who makes strenuous efforts to take such a camera out into the wild. He not only had the Z9 up on the Northern Japanese Alps, but exposed and working in extreme climes.... These landscapes are definitely a beautiful place to visit.

Yet again (as with D5 and D6) it is clear Nikon has designed the Z9 to NASA's standards. This applies particularly to no issues with overheating in hot climates nor freezing up in hypothermic conditions, from +35 C down to -20C in 20m/sec winds, when an actioncam froze (despite trying to keep it warm)...and note he was using a well worn obsolete ENEL18a at the time to power the Z9 in extreme alpine cold and for video

The information i am reading and listening to on U Tube indicates the Z9 is not a landscape camera and the Z7II is better by around a stop
I think that was a given that the Z 9 was not aiming at landscapes from when it was just a rumor. A stop at base ISO is not much down the iso range anyway.

‘A stop less DR than the Z7ii at base iso will still put the Z9 amongst some good company for landscape, just not the very best. That’s very far from disqualifying it as a landscape camera altogether.

looking at dxomark ratings that would put it at the same level as a Canon 5Dmk4 or a Sony A7Riii and better than the Sony A9 and A9ii.

‘And that one stop hasn’t been vetted on production cameras yet, so when all said an done it may be less than that, especially since that would be lagging quite a bit behind the A1 and R5 for DR which has always been a Nikon strength so I am not sure that’s the final word on it.
