... unless he becomes as annoying to them as Jared Polin ...
I never said or posted as much.I thought after his Z9 review he was ok again. ...
BH says shipping starts on December 15th. I think Adorama or Sammy's said November 30th. Amazon said December 31st! So it's a crap shoot. I think the official ship date is December 15th though since BH is usually on top of that. Hopefully it won't end up like the 500mm pf which some people waited over a year to get. I ordered mine the day you could officially order it and I got it 3 weeks later. A friend ordered his a month after me and it took a month. Another friend ordered his about 3 months after me and it took almost a year to get it!
I called B&H today twice to get my order changed from 12 month no interest to 24 months. Two different employees "confirmed" that the order they're receiving from Nikon on the 15th will fill all their backorders as of today.
When I ordered my Z9 I also ordered a FTZ 2 afterwards. This was on the morning of the 28th, there was 5 minutes between the time printed on my two email confirmations and the order numbers where 153 apart. I do not know what was ordered but there were a lot going in at that time.
Looking forward to everyone getting the Z9 but will be surprised to see dozens of post in mid December about FedEx tracking numbers on Z9s coming from B&H.
The Toronto location of my local camera store is having a meet the Z9 in person event this week, and I'm noticing lots of reviews (albeit using pre production cams) by non ambassadors showing up -- which I'm taking to mean shipping just might be on scheduleWhen I ordered my Z9 I also ordered a FTZ 2 afterwards. Ok, I missed that. And who's facetious, anyway?I was just being facetious
My store's representative asked if I also wanted the FTZ II when I ordered the Z9. I said yes, but also understand that there's no guarantee that they arrive at the same time. Because of that, I'm considering ordering a 50mm f1.4 S-Series lens while they're on sale. When I ordered my Z9 I also ordered a FTZ 2 afterwards. Good point ... I could borrow my wife's FTZ but she never takes it off her Z50 ... I already have a couple of S lenses in my wish list at B&H and they are in stock. Trying to decide between the 14-30 F/4 and the 14-24 f/2.8 .... $1,100 more for the f/2.8 and it takes non standard size filters. I seldom use a wide angle in fact I have sold both that were wider than my 24-70. That may a thread in it's ownMy store's representative asked if I also wanted the FTZ II when I ordered the Z9. I guess it's the Z 50mm f1.8 S, not 1.4. But excellent anyway, a bargain. My store's representative asked if I also wanted the FTZ II when I ordered the Z9. Yes, the 14-24 f2.8 S lens (which I do not own) takes 112 mm filters that fit on one of the two lens hoods that come with it. One interesting point is that if you put a 112 mm filter on the hood designed to take filters (or a Nisi equivalent hood), you can mount the filter/hood on the 14-24 f2.8 S; the 14-30 f4 S; the 24-70 f2.8 S; or the 70-200 f2.8 using the lens hood bayonet mount on those lenses. I forget where I read that Nikon had designed the hood filter system to be able to be used this way.Good point ... I could borrow my wife's FTZ but she never takes it off her Z50 ... I don’t use wide angle often either so it was an easy decision for me to go with the 14-30 F/4. I‘m sure there are some IQ improvements to the 14-24 F/2.8, but the 14-30mm seems very good and it’s smaller and lighter so I’m more likely to use bring it with me. Being significantly cheaper is just another bonus.Good point ... I could borrow my wife's FTZ but she never takes it off her Z50 ... Thank you for the info I did not know that. I am not planning on switching out of my Tamron 24-70 and 70-200 G2 anytime soon they both are fantastic lenses so I would have a different hood need and already have filters and adapters I use for them. Nisi says this about their lens hood "Please note this lens hood is only compatible with the Nikon Z 14-24 f/2.8 S Lens"Yes, the 14-24 f2.8 S lens (which I do not own) takes 112 mm filters that fit on one of the two lens hoods that come with it. I was on a trip to the Icelandic Highlands in September and used mainly a Z7II and Z7 with the 14-30 f4 S; 24-70 f2.8 S; and the 70-200 f2.8 S. I bought two of the Nisi hoods (the Nikon hood that takes filters was not in stock) and a 112 mm 6-stop Nisi ND filter and a 112 mm Nisi polarizer and put one of them on each of the two hoods. That let me put the ND or a polarizer on any of the three lenses. The bayonet mount was quick and the lens hood did not interfere with using the polarizer on any of the lenses. A good design for a system.
I’m hoping that the same hood will fit the new 100-400 mm S lens, although I have not seen anything about it.
Interesting that Nisi says that. The hood worked fine on my 14-30, 24-70 f2.8 and 70-200 f2.8 S lenses. Given it is supposed to match the Nikon hood for the 14-24 and the Nikon hood works on the other lenses, it makes sense to me that the Nisi hood also worked on those lenses. I would probably have bought the Nikon hood had it been in stock.Thank you for the info I did not know that. makes sense Nisi claims that there is no light leak with their hood but is with the Nikon ... maybe you got the better hood But given it appears to be Nikon only I am guessing it will not work on Tamron.Interesting that Nisi says that. Yes, I would not expect it to work on Tamron or Sigma lenses.makes sense Nisi claims that there is no light leak with their hood but is with the Nikon ... maybe you got the better hood But given it appears to be Nikon only I am guessing it will not work on Tamron.
Not sure about the size of the Sigma and Tamron alternatives. The Nikon F mount 14-24 f2.8 VR is 38.4 ounces (1070 g). The S mount 24-70s are much lighter than the F mount Nikon. The f4 is 17.7 ounces (500 g) and the f2.8 is 24.8 ounces (805 g).I have both those Tamron lenses they are both absolutely great IMO but the 14-24 is a behemoth in comparison lol
I cannot vouch for Tamron, but, the NISI hood fits on the 24-70 2.8 and the 50mm 1.2. The NISI 14-24 hood is of better quality than the Nikon stock hood. I believe the hood would fit on any of the Nikon Z lenses with an 82mm filter thread. Personally, I don't use the hood on anything other than the 14-24. I have the Kase magnetic filters for my 24-70mm and my 50mm, both being 82mm and interchanging is very fast and simple with the magnetic set. Attached is a photo of the hood sitting on the 50mm, fits perfect and snug.makes sense Nisi claims that there is no light leak with their hood but is with the Nikon ... maybe you got the better hood But given it appears to be Nikon only I am guessing it will not work on Tamron.
I saw a review of the Nisi hood and that screw was damaging the Nikon lens. It looked like the screw just tighted against the lens and could dent the lens.
Don't have the link to hand as I decided after reading it what I would skip the Nisi adopter. Since then Lee Filters have released a similiar holder but does not use screws.
It does not damage anything. You would have to over-tighten it to mark it. It is very secure without even tightening the bolt. The screw isn't meant to keep it there by force, it locks into a groove, only a slight turn is required.I saw a review of the Nisi hood and that screw was damaging the Nikon lens. Interesting. I found that the Nisi hood fit securely without tightening the screw so I have not used the screw. Will be sure not to use it, as I would not want to dent the lens.I saw a review of the Nisi hood and that screw was damaging the Nikon lens. You're correct; the Z 50mm on sale is a 1.8, not a 1.4, so I'll not likely be getting that one. (I was looking at a Sigma F-Mount 50mm 1.4 lens earlier, and apparently got carried away with myself about the S-series 50mm. Are you listening, Nikon?) Too bad the S-series 50mm 1.2 isn't on sale.I guess it's the Z 50mm f1.8 S, not 1.4. But excellent anyway, a bargain.
It's really a non-issue. And, you're talking about "marking" the outer hood, you cannot dent or damage the lens in anyway. If it were me I would get a shorter screw that doesn't stick out like that and not over-tighten it.
