The ospreys are returning to my favorite spot at the western end of Lake Ontario. After perching in a tree for a while today, this one started hunting. It landed (did not dive in) in shallow water at the edge of the pond, grabbed the fish and flew into the sky. I had the camera set for BIF against relatively clean sky, so had some positive exposure compensation dialed in. I was too slow to reduce compensation when the bird went into the water so those images with the foliage behind the bird are overexposed. It was also a bad time for photography since the light was harsh.

The bird flew a few victory figure 8 laps before going back to the tree to eat its meal. I need to get a longer lens or a teleconverter because I had to crop a lot with these images, but at least I'm getting some exercise with BIF to get ready for summer. My dilemma now is to wait for the new Nikkor Z 200-600mm and buy that together with a 1.4X teleconverter rather than purchasing a 1.4X TC for my current F-mount 200-500mm lens.

Z6II with Nikkor 200-500mm F/5.6.
