How you get the flower is amazing. Is this with gallons of water or there's a particular trick? I can see why you enjoy. I've seen plenty of drop photos but nothing like this with the movement.

Three large studio strobes, 640 Watt-seconds each, battery powered. Trigger with Pocket Wizards. Found the strobe maker's triggers weren't cutting it for outdoors and the dynamo on the loco (steam generated electrical) was causing interference. It's not easy......especially when you have to stand in the cold to get basically one shot per pass. (Recycle time on a full discharge is 5 seconds) Trains only run Thanksgiving to Christmas and average 1/hr for 6 total trips for 3 trains.

Thanks. It certainly looked serious. Still, effort in, stunning shot out. I suspect a few choice words when the timing wasn't entirely perfect. Great shots aren't free.

I've had more than a few trigger fails either 1,2 or all three lights fail. After waiting in the dark for an hour in the cold, yes, there are more than a few expletives! Then trying to get both bodies to sync with the single flash adds a new level. Why 2 bodies? Two different angles per pass. I started out with 4 SB 800's and actually did quite well. Certainly lighter and less expensive but I needed 4x the ISO. Currently I'm at ISO 200 @ f9. Everything seems to work there and I don't have to change for twilight:

I like to take shots of things that look odd and your brain cannot easily make out what you are seeing.
Simple solutions when you think about it for a while.

Spend most of my time with landscapes and portrait photography and then nature and when possible motor sports. Grew up with photography in late 60's so I still do like pllaying with B&W.
