Taken in my back yard during an early morning coffee break. As I started to shoot the first bird, the second one landed right along side the first.

Thanks for the critique. I’m still struggling with post processing and I actually was trying to figure out the best way to brighten the eye of that bird. Never really got it. As for the vertical shot, they really didn’t stay long. They were gone after just a minute or two.You took advantage of a great opportunity. Your aperture choice was great (whatever it was) as your DOF is very good. If it were my image, I would consider bringing up the exposure of the eye of the bird on the right slightly and giving the hawks more room on the top. For me, this image says "vertical".
Yup, that's how I do it too.Very nice shot. As to increasing the exposure on the eye , several ways to do this. If you use photoshop, select the eye only . Then you can use the levels or the brightness/contrast .
From May thru early July, I was firing away at birds at the feeder from about 6am to 9am. Experimenting with settings and also enjoying my new 500PF. Coffee in hand or on the table. I got lucky. Turned to look at my neighbors house and saw a hawk land in their tree. As I started to fire a second one landed. So beautiful! Coffee in one hand, always a camera in the other, right?!
Very nice shot, I agree with the vertical suggestion. The eye on the right bird appears to be in shadow, so there may be only so much you can do with it unless you do a complete replacement of that area. You could try a spot adjustment if you are using LR, but not so sure that will get you where you want to go.Thanks for the critique. Thanks again for your observations and thoughts
Thanks, A little luck involved.Ralph, your compositions always amaze me!
Thanks. I actually did lighten it but never posted it. Here it is below.Great photo. To lighten the eye I'd use PhotoScape which has a brighten brush.
Thank You.That is absolutely stunning ! Jumps out of the screen at me….wow
