Peak Design carbon fibre tripod and Nikon 600mm f/4

I travel extensively and love to do bird photography. Can I plan a 600mm f/4 lens mounted on D850 with the PeakDesign tripod? all suggestions will help a lot. Thank you
(Psst... the picture is from my 2019 birding visit to Houston)

I looked up the specs for the Peak Design travel pod and for me, I'd pass. You don't say which 600 f4 you have so I'll use the non-E version as it's heavier. The Peak site claims a 20lb rating which is right about where your rig is at. I've found over the years that I like a tripod to have at least 2x the capacity of what I intend to put on it as anything less usually results in less than optimal results. I've felt that having a tripod that is not up to the task is worse than no tripod at all in that it gives you a false sense of security. I also try to minimize the number of leg joints as each joint is a potential source of weakness/shake. These are my opinions, YMMV as they say. Perhaps my biggest concern, I don't want my 600 EFL taking a fast trip to the ground because a leg collapsed or got bumped.

Peak Design tripods are good as travel companions and good for landscape photography. For serious wildlife with larger lenses I would not recommend it. I personally use a GITZO LS3543 (Carbon Fibre) Systematic Series Tripod and regularly travel with it for my shoots

Agree with prior comments. Tested the Peak Design and it just wasn't as stable as my (yes, another one here) Gitzo. But, on the other hand, the Peak Design does fold up so small and could be a great light rig tripod!

I had a look at the Peak Design tripod. It's ok as a lightweight travel tripod for light gear (even though I'd still rather take a small Gitzo), but there's no way it will work with heavy lenses. And certainly not with the 4/600.

Thanks a ton for the replies. As I came back to the site I was surprised to see my question disappear - and I was disheartened thinking that the admin has removed the thread. So surprised (pleasantly) I must say - for such suggestions. Thank you all.
