Photo Posting on Multiple Websites Question

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

I engage on several photo forums, and I'm aware that some, if not many, others here do also.

Of those that do, do you ever post the same image on more than one site?

For everyone, do you consider posting the same photo on more than one site to be in bad faith or improper?

I don't think it's improper or unethical to post on multiple forums. Its your art, you are free to display it wherever you think is appropriate. What I don't like is when people post photos in clearly the wrong category or put a photo in a general photo discussion thread rather than in a presentation gallery. I think some people think they will get more looks if it is in the main photography discussion rather than where it belongs.

This site is the primary forum that I engage with. I do belong to one or 2 others, that honestly I don’t look at that much. That being said, I see no issue with posting the same image in multiple sites…as long as it “fits”. It’s your work, attached to your forum entry.

I've definitely posted the same or very similar images on more than one site. Sometimes it's to illustrate a particular point in an ongoing discussion on different sites, sometimes it's just to share work with different audiences. I don't see any netiquette failings by doing so. Now cross posting the same image on different discussion threads on the same forum is something I try to avoid, at least for straight photo sharing purpose. For illustrating a point I'll sometimes cross post the same image but generally won't for just showing off my work.

On some sites that I frequent, there are some posters who post the same photos over and over again. I confess to finding that irritating. But I don't see any problem in posting the same photo on different sites.
