Pied-billed Grebe with his Trophy

I was at the local pond couple days ago waiting for something to happen; saw and heard this big splash and this Grebe was struggling with this huge Sunfish. What a sight with him trying to figure out how he was going swallow it, he kept trying and he could not get past the gills. The other Grebe’s were closing in and a Juvenile Eagle was hovering above, surprisingly he took his trophy and flew the opposite direction somewhere to seclusion. I lost him at that point, I’d be shocked in the end if he actually swallowed it, considering his and its size.

Chris, Awesome sequence. Don’t count this guy in reference to swallowing that sunfish. But from the shots you took it appears that it’s a losing battle. It’s possible that it will find a nice quiet place and pick it apart. Well Done👍👍👍
