Post Your Best Macro Photos Of 2022

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

It's getting towards the end of the year and I thought it would be fun to post some of our best / favorite shots from the last twelve months. Only post images you captured this year and please keep it to eight photos or less (I know, it's tough if it's been a busy year). I can't wait to see what you captured. I'll start with some of my favorites :)

Note that these are all done with focus stacking except the last one.

Dang, those are gorgeous photos! Merry Christmas, Steve.

Looking back I didn't do as much macro work this year as I usually do. Really cold spring didn't help flowers much but I was focusing elsewhere more this year.

Larval stage Milkweed bugs (vs. milkweed beetles). These were on the milkweed growing at the back of my yard.

Skipper Butterfly on a Zinnia flower in our garden. I liked the spiral of its tongue.

Beautiful set of captures. Really like the last photo!

Incredible macro images! It is amazing how fast you get out of practice when not shooting frequently. A few from this year.

@Steve When you listen to an excellent audio recording on excellent equipment, there is only one thing to do: close your eyes and listen to the magic.
Here, it’s the opposite. You have to open your eyes and look at the magic 👏

I bought the z 105/2.8 S macro lens about a year ago and I had some plans to do some macro shooting this year, but it didn’t go as planned 😂 I only got around to test it on some flowers in the garden.

I have seen some Idas blue at our cabin and I was really hoping to get some images of this beautiful butterfly. Well it didn’t go as planned, but I got a snapshot with my 100-400mm lens.

I do a lot of my close-up/macro work around our yard and garden. The flowers and associated insects are always a draw as are the animals at the bird feeders. Also, the more you look around, the more you can find to shoot! It is a nice, quiet way to spend an hour shooting and more time processing. Very nice set of shots, nicely captured and presented!

Thank you! I agree, I spend some time shooting birds at the feeder, but I tend to forget the insects and other little things around in the garden 😊
