I guess this is more of a Jan Wegener or Duade Paton type of photo. Sharp in focus bird, soft light, and a bright uniform background. I'm trying to branch out (no pun intended) and get more creative with my photos, but I still go for these shots when the opportunity presents itself. I was hoping he would perform his trademark breeding display but in reality he was only on this perch for about 5 seconds. The background is a pond reflecting the grassy bank on the other side. It happened pretty quickly so I kinda forgot to zoom in to 500mm, but I think it all worked out in the end.
