This was shot early morning a few days ago. It was misty and foggy, not the typical Florida morning.
The shot was very gray, not to much color, so I tinted it slightly to the teal range. I showed it to my wife and she didn't think it was anything special.
I like the Cranes flying into the mist and the trees fading into the distance. I understand that shooting the back of the birds is usually not desirable. I think this works, or is my wife right.
What do you think?

“She didn’t think it was anything special”. If I had a nickel for every time I’ve heard that, there could some new gear in my future😀. I like it very much, especially the soft foggy mood. My first thought re the teal tint was that something was amiss, it looks a little unnatural. Maybe back it off a bit, or make it blue- ish instead, not sure, some trial and error would be in order if I were doing it. If it’s cropped my other thought would be to add a bit more room to the left as the birds appear to be banking that way. Might look a little less cramped. Just my 2c worth. But it’s a lovely image - love the mood.

Thank so much for the critique JSD. I plan to work on it some more.

This question gets solved very easily - if you plan on telling her soon that you are buying new gear, then of course she is right and the new gear is what you need to improve massively and make photos that are a lot more special.

If you don't have any near-term purchase plans, do as you please.

That't brilliant. That's the answer. 😜

I like the photo. At first, my page was not scrolled all the way up and all I saw was the cranes. That did not appeal to me much, but when I saw the whole scene I decided that I really like it. I like the position of the birds and the overall mood; I usually prefer front or side views but this one really works with them flying away. Good capture!
