Was doing some work this afternoon when I heard a racket and looked out to see the yard swarmed with several hundred Gray-Crowned Rosy Finches. I see them all the time up in the high peaks but have never seen one in the yard before and suddenly they were everywhere. Managed to get a few shots that weren't total chaos:

What a pretty little bird and you captured him beautifully!

The return of winter continues with snow for the past few days and forecast for the week. The silver lining is birds coming into their best plumage stopping by on snowy perches like this Dark Eyed Junco:

Black Rosy-Finch which is a first for me.
I'd never seen them down in the valley till a few weeks ago but since then swarms of both the Gray Crowned and Black Rosy Finches have been swarming the yard and wiping out our feeders on a daily basis. Pretty cool birds, love the color contrast on the Black Rosy Finches.

Awesome image Bill!

Thanks Dave. Just this week we've had all kinds of action in the migrating bird front.
