My summary, above, is aimed at explicating a real risk to forums, hence the vital need of a moderation policy. Fortunately, at least IME I find BCG is quite different, indeed special forum IMHO.
I think the issues you identify are valid, but it's more to do with the web tools and software search engines to filter and and find earlier Posts & Threads.
I find the existing search tools often struggle to find earlier threads, so I have built up a sizeable database of bookmarks to threads on many topics (!) Bags, safari questions, tripods, exposure etc etc let alone about Nikon products. This works well, but it's obviously parochial.
That’s the problem I have at times as well. It’s like the net is too large that is cast by the search function on here even if you use keywords, I just think some software manipulation on the side, even in incremental updates could improve this dramatically.

How about getting all of the camera specific discussions out of this form into a separate form. Now it's the Z8, it was the Z9, and when the next Sony A1 or A9 comes out, that will drive a lot of the discussion and everything else gets lost. Discussion of other gear, like lenses, doesn't overwhelm this form. I shoot Nikon, two Z9s, and therefore have little interest in all of the Z8 discussion. Splitting the form into Cameras and General Photo (including other gear) doesn't address sh1209's concerns, but would be a big improvement for many of us not having to wade through all the camera model specfic discussion that over-whelms this form every time a new camera comes out.

This thread has run its course. It was to do with having a separate forum for Sony shooters and has gone way beyond that.
80% voted no by the way.
locking it now.
