Steve - heading for Africa in June ‘24. Have been looking for used GuraGear Bataflae with no success. Saw on your “Trip to Africa” video and saw you are now using 30L Koboko. Also saw you pack laptop separately and check. Does your Koboko have or not have laptop sleeve? W/O sleeve adds .5” to the depth.
I have 2 D500’s, a 16-80, 70-200 2.8, 80-400 (good one) and 500PF. Considering leaving one of three long lenses home. 70-200 2.8 likely to be left except for low light concern (morning/evening). Koboko has capability of both D500’s having a long lens attached and potentially the third long lens horizontal above one of two attached long lenses. 16-80 will be fine.
Appreciate your thoughts!
Additional question - paid $50 when I first joined. How do I pay again to be a “member”, so I can post items for sale?
Thanks - Lee

They only introduced the 30L with the laptop sleeve fairly recently. I bought mine based partly based on Steve’s video and at the time they did not have that model out yet.

I don't want a laptop sleeve. That will take away space from the space for lenses (or the bag is thicker which was I want that extra space for my lens)

I own the previous 32L Bataflae, which is fairly well beaten up now - I wish Gura Gear would make a 32 L version of the Koboko as well. The Z 600/4 TC just fits in the Bataflae 32L

I own the Koboko 30L (without sleeve), and have taken it with Steve to Botswana, 2 trips to Costa Rica, countless other places, and this summer to the Paternal. I put (2) Canon R5 bodies in, a 100-500L lens, a 600/F4 (without hood...hood packed in checked baggage), and typically a wide angle lens, 1.4 and 2.0 TC..plus other stuff. Have had no problems bringing on the plane. I read the recent reviews of their newest 30L+, which adds a laptop slot..but lens holding dimensions appear the same. Since I have a carry on with laptop, card readers, and other essentials, for me the expense to buy a new bag just for the laptop slot doesn't make sense, but might to you. I've been really happy with Steve's recommendation of the 30L. Definitely my work horse bag for major trips.
