Steve guest on Vahagraphy you tube channel.

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

Looking forward to it. I expect Steve's presentation will be nothing short of stellar.

Agreed - very well done and allowed more folks to appreciate Steve and his contributions. Sorry to hear about that lack of trips in 2023 (and especially the reason behind that)

Thanks. I don't mind sharing here.

My mother had a massive stroke the evening before we had to leave for our Africa workshops. She's in a rehab center but not making much progress. She can't talk very well and has lost most of her mobility. At this time, I don't want to schedule anything until everything is more or less settled with her. I have a bad feeling she's going to be stuck in a nursing home for the rest of her life, exactly the opposite of what she wanted. Sadly, the level of care she requires is well beyond what we can provide for her at home.

However, I have wanted to work on getting more frequent posts on the YT channel as well as getting a few projects (books, video) done. So, I'll be putting out a lot of content after the workshops are over, just not any workshops for now.

OMG that’s terrible Steve. Let’s hope she gets great care. Must be an awful stressful time.
Thanks :) Yes, very stressful and tough. We're still hoping she improves - they say the kind of plateau at 3-6 months and it's been just over 6 weeks. So, still lots of time.

Yikes - so sorry to hear that. Dealing with an extremely similar situation on my side so I can appreciate the decision. Hopefully things will work themselves out in the long run for you.

Your presentation was great. Tons of information

Hang in there Steve! So sorry about your Mom, same thing happened to mine years ago. You're doing the right thing thinking of her first, hopefully things will all work out for you. Sending good thoughts and hugs your way.

Steve I’m really sorry to hear this! I’ve been away from my home at my moms in another state for 5 weeks now. My mom went into the ER after a couple weeks of horrible back pain. They discovered a bulging disk and admitted her into the hospital to do a surgery the following day. As she was being moved from the ER to her room she also suffered a stroke. I’ve spent 5 weeks in the hospital with her and while she’s beginning to recover it’s going to be a long road. We are hoping to keep her at home vs a nursing home so I feel your pain. It’s a little crazy how quickly life can be turned upside down. Prayers for your mom that she recovers and keep your spirits up.

David

Similar situation 10 years ago my Dad had a massive stroke and we needed to get him in a nursing home. Obviously the last thing my Dad would have wanted. Life went from my joking, perfectly fit father to a devastating turn. He made it over a year and it was terribly difficult but I am glad that I was able to spend that time with my siblings caring for the man who had selflessly cared for us. It was a privilege and I am sure you feel the same. We look back at the time with my father and remember all of the good times and wish we could have had more but such is life. Your honesty and genuineness show through on all of your videos and presentations.Take care wishing you and your family the best.

Thanks and sorry to hear you're going through the same thing. It's amazing - and scary - how quickly life can turn upside down. I talked to her only hours before it happened and everything was fine. Next thing I know I'm at the hospital and she's minimally responsive and her life as she knew it was over. It's very sad.

Thanks so much for the kind words.

Without going into much detail because I don't want to bring this whole thread down much more...I went through the same with my mother almost seven years ago. It's hard to watch one of the people that was your rock your whole life, reduced to a shell of her former self. @Steve, @toneloc1958, @DavidT, and anyone else going through anything like this...I wish you strength. Not a terribly religious kinda guy, my "church" is probably like most of you - outdoors. But...I will keep you and your families in my thoughts and meager prayers.

Thank you very much! It’s been tough but sitting at her bedside during the comma stage all night switching with my sister after a 38 hour shift of not sleeping this forum brought me comfort as I read away the time.
