Steve P, What do you think of adding a new form folder called ( Other ).

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

Steve P, What do you think of adding a new form list called ( Other ) that would allow photos to be added that are not Wildlife, Landscape...? The idea is to provide a place were the form people can add photos that they want to share with the form.
It seem sometimes some of your
category's get a little stretched. I'm not complaining I'm just throwing it out their.

Anyone else have any thought on this?.

I, personally would prefer to see this site stay focused on wildlife and landscape. There are many other forums available in which to post work not in the categories served here. No offence intended. Just my humble opinion.

I think about this occasionally but the thing is I do really want to keep this site focused on nature, landscape, and wildlife photography. I like that our members tend to be nature photographers and I think it's good to have a knowledgable group of like-minded people to help each other. So, at least for now, I'll probably keep it as it.

Thank you all for your feedback It's what I thought the reply would be from the general group. (It's like the whole podcast thing.) I'm 98% Wildlife and landscapes, Macro also and in no way was I subjecting we share photo of moms bunt cake or family photos.

My main goal was to get photos that don't In my option fit in the category they are currently in so that the form stays focused and pure.

Keep the great photos comings.

I second the nature macro category but the problem with expanding is where do you stop. One of the successes on the Facebook my wife and I lead is our very specific focus on nature in a 3 state region.

@Steve Is there something like introduction Tab for new users? I am new and have no idea what the other members are... I can see a bit of Profile but normally it doesn't tell much about a person.

The world has only two kinds of people- lumpers and splitters. I tend to be lumper, so I like fewer categories but it is enough to be clear that this is not the place for street photography or portraiture, or boudoir, etc. There are good forums that cover other genres. On some of them the people are not always so civil and the moderators don't keep it in check, which is one of many reasons I like it here.

It would be fun, but I've seen that attempted at other forums and new members tend to not participate. So, it ends up as another forum topic section (whatever you wanna call it) no one watches, sadly.

The quality of photographers and their knowledge on this forum is something that differentiates it from others, IMHO. As, primarily, a portrait and sports photographer I think it would be “nice” to have an “Other“ category, but, I could see the forum devolving into the same mess that others have become. I always feel uplifted and inspired to better my images after coming here, either in wildlife, portrait, or sports. Exposure to quality and knowledge always benefit other pursuits.

Thank you all for your passionate replies on this subject. I was surprised by some getting angry at such a simple idea. Like the one guy wanting to add nude photos to the form “other” category I would have put those in the Wildlife folder.

Thanks aging for taking your time to add your feedback and point out some problems with the idea that I had not considered. It may come down to defining what is the scope of Landscape, Wildlife, Macro. Like Macro does it have to be a living subject or the fact we are using a macro lens enough?

Anyway have a great weekend and take lots of photos.

I agree with Steve, just me 2 cents.
