I'm still pulling my hair out waiting not so patiently for the 600mm. Finally went to the Canon R5, so cancelled my 5 month old back order on the EF 600 and got first on the list for the R mount 600....so just waiting. Got this one, 100-400mm plus 1.4 TC on my R5 body. That eye focus system is amazing on this camera.

Great photo
Missed the link the first time....just saw the comment....dang you got some incredible shots there !!! I've never explored Mt Diablo before, even though I live literally at it's base...planning this spring to spend a great deal of time searching for birds and flowers. :)

Love the position of the bird. Certainly had some lighting challenges on this one. Nicely done.
Yes, even though I was out early, the sun came up sooner than expected and this guy was in the blast zone....Think I over adjusted trying to show feather detail....after looking again I darkened the image more, there is still feather detail on his back, but now I feel like the image has more a feel of that early morning that I was seeing.

FWIW, I like this version better but any way you slice it that lens and TC combo is really delivering for you. Nice work!

Very nice shot. These birds are tough for me to shoot. The white on the face is so bright on some individuals that it is difficult to keep from blowing out except on the best of bright overcast days. You have done well with the light present.
