The issue is not power. I need to tether AND use the Nikon controller. Did you successfully tether using the ethernet connection directly into LRC? Ain't happening to me.I found the same problem.
The 2 solutions I found.
Use a dummy battery to power the Z9.
Or tether through the ethernet port like on the older D series DSLR Nikons...
Were you ever able to get this to work? I am in exactly the same situation. Tethered to PC and want to use the MC-N10 to control the camera as it is far out of my reach. Accessory port remote is not an option for my use case.
Unfortunately nothing I tried worked.
Are you using thunderbolt or just USB3?
