I would like to Focus Stack macro images on my new Z6. I have a F2Z adaptor. The auto-focus function needs to work for the focus stacking to work. And I want a focal length of 90 to 105 mm. And keeping costs down, I would like to go used. What versions of the Nikon 105mm f2.8 would be suitable? Can you recommend suitable lenses from Tamron, Sigma?

There are no shortage of used macro lenses available online. I really want to be confident that the lens I purchase will allow me to focus stack on my Z6.

You want the AF-S version - it's the one I use and works really well. I don't have any experience with the Tarmon or Sigma, but I know they are good too. The trick is to make sure you have an internal focus motor.

Thanks Steve. That's an internal focus motor in the lens. Correct? (I think my D500 has one in the camera body but my Z6 does not)
Yes and yes. If you get the 105 AF-S, you'e golden (it's the newest version if that helps). Skip the AF-D - the D500 can use it, but the Z6 can't. Also, according to Nikon's lens roadmap for the Z cameras, a 105 is coming out next year. Not sure on the cost though...
