Summertime Storms

Been a bit busy lately and haven't posted much or even been on the site. Forgive my absence. But finally late last week, I managed to get out as a severe storm, non tornado super cell dropped south along the eastern portion of Virginia into my area. I made the trek back to work ( ugh ) which put me in the perfect spot where the main core of lightning was leaping out of this storm. Looking north from Suffolk Va across the Nansamond River, this storm came in at the perfect time of evening. I set up the camera and let it fire away doing time-lapse while there was still too much light for a long exposure. One of those images is in the group below. The first image was the absolute last lightning strike from the storm that evening. The buoy in the foreground washed ashore on the bank of the river a few months back and no one has come to get it. Yes, the light is working...it charges itself every day in the sun.

Nikon D500

Very cool. I wish I lived where I could do lightning shots. Did you use one of the triggers or just relied on remarkable timing??
Been chasing storms for 20 years and that started my photography as well. Learned in film and learned by doing it the old fashioned way, long exposure without triggers. Watching and follow the storms and move the camera as the storm moves. Thank you
