Taken from the Vancouver Island ferry on our return to Vancouver city. D850 and 70-200mm @ f4 ISO 720, 1/1000 Sec., handheld.

Fantastic capture David - of all the times I`ve been to Vancouver Island ie the last 5 years in a row for the Salmon fishing , Yet I have never had the opportunity nor a decent enough camera to take any photos , hopefully I will rectify that seeing as I`ve now got some knowledge of photography and a decent enough camera ..

Are there any particular places that you visited on Vancouver Island ?

Thanks Harry --- I'll look up my trip itinerary and send you the details separately, if that's OK.

This is in "my back yard" and I don't have to go far from my house to see Baker in the distance. This shot however, reminds me not to take it for granted. Colouring, mood and composition are all superb here. Beautifully done.

Thanks Marcus --- I envy your "backyard", a gateway to so much wildlife and beautiful scenery. Lucky for me that our return ferry trip had such a good sunset !

Thanks Gordon ---- I was surprised that the mountain had so much snow on it for September.
Mt Baker is actually heavily snowcapped year round. It's a little over 10,000 ft. As you doubtlessly know, the pacific northwest can be quite wet and at elevation just the white stuff. Mt Baker has a modest ski facility but interestingly, it frequently earns the distinction of getting more snow than just about any other ski facility in the US...and Canada too.

Yes, folks from out of state have a hard time believing when I tell them that snow is measured in feet, not inches, when it falls at Mt. Baker. And the drive up to the mountain out of Bellingham is quite beautiful.
