Same image with slightly different crop and editing. Which version is better...

Both of these are very nice. (y) not sure why but I think #1 for me

I also like the curves in the FG of the first image. I'd try selectively applying a color filter to remove/tone down the brown water on the fall.
Dan,
Thanks. The dark brown color in the water comes from the tannins that leach from from the flora upstream and is why these are called the "Root Beer Falls". That's one of the allures of these falls. I was actually disappointed that the coloring was actually diluted on my visit. A ranger said that the color was actually less at this time of year. I wish there was more like at one of the falls at the lower falls.

Yes I grew up around black water rivers so am well familiar with it.

I like all of your shots, but would love to see one with more sky, just because...

I've always wanted to do a waterfall photography tour of the US. You've added a location to my destination list!

I agree with you, but there were no puffy nice clouds that day. I wish there were.

When you go to the upper falls, make sure you hit three viewing spots. I think there were 50 to 100 steps down (and up). I spent too much time at the viewing boardwalk right next to the falls. I was the only car there when I arrived. When I walked out the parking lot was packed. By the time I got to the other spots, there were a lot of people which was a hindrance. It is well worth the visit. When you go to the lower falls, make sure that you take a boat over to island. Walk around the island for views of a number of different falls. I drove 60 - 70 miles on a couple days to do the upper and lower. I did like the upper better than the lower, but, if you are creative, you can probably come up with many more perspectives on the lower falls.
