It's such an appealing lens, but Steve Mattheis' horror stories have convinced me I need to buy it new just so I can deal with the potential problems.

I have two of these and you do need the tap in console. The fine focus adjust varies through the focal length and distance as it does with all lenses so you need the tap in for perfection. Replaced a N 200-500 with one and its great .. Good for close up of insects too.

FYI... the Tap-In console was sold. Just have the lens now.
