Steve,
I just wanted to send you a thanks for your sharing of knowledge and photographic techniques. While I’ve been involved in photography for over 50-years, owned a photography studio for 15-years doing commercial, portrait, and wedding photography, it wasn’t until about the end of 2018 that I decided to dedicate most of my time and effort to nature, wildlife, and landscape photography. Near the end of 2019, I heard of some guy named Steve Perry, began purchasing/reading his online publications, and watching YouTube videos. Since he was a Nikon shooter, as I have always been, all the tips and tricks were right down my alley. Those tips and words of experience saved me countless hours of experimentation and wasted effort.

Cutting to the chase, I recently entered photographs in a National bird photography contest “Hit Me With Your Best Shot”, hosted by Gallery on the Lake here in Lake Charles, LA. Forty-eight photographers from twenty states submitted over 230-entries, of which only 50 were picked for the final exhibition/competition. The judges were from the editorial staff of Bird Watchers Digest in Ohio. I personally had six entries, of which three were chosen for the exhibition. The awards ceremony was held yesterday, August 20, 2021, and my bird in flight photo of a Painted Bunting won overall First Place.

So, giving credit where credit is due, know that your efforts don’t fall on deaf ears and you do make a difference! Thanks
