The Famous Red-eyed Fly

Not so sure how famous this fly is, but its maroon eyes were really attention getting as it sat on the leaf. Olympus E-M10 ii, 7artisans 60mm macro lens, 1/1000 sec, ISO 1000. Heavily cropped.

Cool image Woody. That's the great thing about macro work, most folks seeing that fly with their own eyes would never know how great those eyes are. The close intimate view really brings out great details and shows us things that we might otherwise overlook. Nice shot!

One comment I often get from non-photographers looking at my macros is that they never realized how hairy insects are.

Thank you all. I tried to get closer but the fly was having none of that. I've been really pleased with the photographs from that inexpensive 7artisans lens (the FF equivalent of 120mm); it's entirely manual so it takes me back to the days when I bought my first SLR.
