Sometimes people are beautiful. Not in looks. Not in what they say. Just in what they are. ― Markus Zusak

Peter this post is Voguish... @Callie posts are RAD.... And @Kathy G must be a Tomato because she's sweet. and this post is Marvelous and should be pinned so we can always find a word for @Callie and @DRwyoming Photo's
Gorden ~ Thanks, that is cool~ Do you know the origin of Tomato for a doll? Daemon Runyon, who wrote so wonderfully about Guys and Dolls and on Broadway, has loved to use America slang from the 1930's in his short stories. That is the only place I have ever read about a Tomato. Together with O Henry he epitomizes the American vibe of the last part of the 19th century and the first part of the 20th century.

While we are on the marvel called English Language, did you know that the English are the only people in the world who can:
Take a full grown hen or cock, kill it, remove its feathers, take out its intestines, clean it, then stuff it and call it a "Dressed Chicken"?

I did not know the organ of Tomato... BUT you can bet I'll be using it in the future!! :).

And if there was any common sense to English, it would at least be Dressed Down Chicken. :ROFLMAO:

For a non-native speaker this is a treasure (y).
I just took a copy of the text, hoping that you don't have the copyright on it.
I promise not to use it for making money :).
Be careful Woodpecker, many of those words are not really suitable (like buxom)! The list also contains a lot of slang words that are culture specific - Eg., if you use Barbie (I have never heard that expression before) you might confuse our friends 'down under' - they will be looking for a steak on a grill! :)

Regarding copyright. They are only words in public use so the only thing that can be of a problem is the plagiarism of the website they came from but full disclosure was made there. Use the words to your hearts content.

Regarding Barbie. "Barbie Dolls" were the invention of the wife of the guy who started Mattel Toys. Her idea originally came from a German doll "Lilli". In this case, there was a dispute over it, but Mattel ended up buying the copyright. They have long been considered "beautiful dolls" and people when referring to beautiful real life women called them "Barbie".

Now talking about confusion over words. Paul Hogan, the Ozzie comedian, you know "Crocodile Dundee", in a 1984 television commercial (for the American market) used the term "throw another shrimp on the barbie"; however, we Ozzies found that strange because to us, a shrimp is a very, very small prawn and would never have been cooked on a BBQ.
