Hi Iain.
I got it about a year ago & think it's worth it.
I don't put every image through it as not all of them need it, but do find if used properly & in the right circumstances it can make a difference.
I haven't downloaded the latest version as yet as I've heard a few people have had issues with it so will wait until they're ironed out.
I use it mostly when I have a shot with high ISO (above 1,000)
Here's a good tutorial -

They just put up version 3.5.0. I didn't have any problems that were reported by many others but I've been using Topaz products forever. Now the New AI products I consider a "must have" addition to my post processing. I have all the AI products but mainly just use DeNoise AI and Sharpen AI. It does a better job than I usually can do just with LR without branching out to Photoshop.

I used to use it on some difficult shoots and it helped me in some case (mainly topaz sharpen, because DxO stand-alone does a good job for denoising when iso raise).
But since several updates (don't remember which one), it looks like it is no more trained for subtil effects. Sharpening is too much seenable, too much artificial to my taste (I can't adjust it anymore as I like).
I still have it to see how it evolves, but don't use it anymore.
That's only my experience of course.
D850.

I have Sharpen AI and Denoise AI. Here is a Hawk shot at 1/640 which is too slow. Also I've used my D600 and 200-500mm G VR. I would have normally deleted the file but I ran it through Sharpen AI and was I ever surprised at the outcome.

Olympus (E-M1, E series 90-250mm w/ adapter)
203mm, 1/640s, f/10, ISO 2000, handheld from a zodiac
This is the heaviest lens I've ever owned, and it cost me $6,300 CAN at the time :)
Prior to the E-M1, I had an E-30, 12MP 5fps 𝜇 4/3 DSLR that this lens was intended for.

This first pic is my best editing attempt in 2015 (Lightroom).

This may be too sharp for some people's taste, but the software certainly brings out detail I didn't know existed.
It works, provided you nailed focus in the first place.

It's a really good product. However, 3.4.1 (newest version on Mac) is really buggy. Hope they come up with an update soon. It crashes and has to be reloaded. I've seen reports of this behavior in several other forums. Overall, though, I get a lot of use out of DeNoise.
UPDATE:
3.5 seems to have resolved all the bugs from the 3.4.1 version. Well pleased with the product on a Mac M1.
