Lol, there’s definitely plenty of them especially this time of year. I wear knee high snake boots this time of year for sure.Steven, I'm thinking I would be looking for a different area for photos, too many Copperheads for me. Nice photos,
Joe

Thank you. After getting nailed a couple years ago, Its a must! Luckily it didn't hit skin but got the side of my hiking boot and scared the hell out of me lol.Fantastic images. Wearing snake boots is a really good idea!
I was hiking (bush whacking) outside Portand (30 miles out) and was stepping over logs, etc in fairly dense brush. Afterwards I realized how dumb that was, at least I need to put a hiking pole, walking stick, etc where I was about step. Luckily nothing happened but could have ..Thank you. They won't go out of their way to harm you but like in my situation, I practically stepped on top of it. It was a miracle it didn't strike higher on my leg. I've seen the damage they can do and it's not pretty. Certainly not as bad as a rattlesnake but pretty bad nonetheless. Hopefully in a few more weeks they'll be gone for the year.I was hiking (bush whacking) outside Portand (30 miles out) and was stepping over logs, etc in fairly dense brush. Tell her to go out close to dark near gravel roads, trails, rocky areas and sometimes just asphalt. I moved here from NC in 2019 and there are plenty very large copperheads there. My wife (aka snake girl) is insanely jealous. We've been in the mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee for the past 3 days looking for and looking at elk. She is mad we haven't seen any snakes yet. Usually if there is a snake in 100 yards she will find it. I just showed her your photos. She loved the shots. I'm just not exactly sure what the words meant when she talked about it though. Either she was complimenting your boyish charm and good looks or she was questioning relationships with pet sheep.... just not 100% sure. (joking. she liked the photos and did say she is jealous).

Very nice and awesome snake.Steve,
I haven't really looked through my images from the day yet. These are a couple cropped and downsized to fit here of the rattlesnake we saw today. I'll see what I can do with them later and if any are worthy of being posted in their own thread in the forum.

Thank you. Most of the time from ones I've known that have been bitten, It nearly takes direct contact. She and your dog were lucky.Sweet shots! Every once in a while we have them in our back yard. One morning my wife stepped out the back door and stepped right over one, almost had a heart attack. Luckily it didn't strike at her or our little dog.
