Walking Around Photos

I was out walking the dog along a stream where I've seen Egrets and GBHs a few times and carrying my D500 with the 500mm PF mounted when this Belted Kingfisher hovered for a moment (just enough time to grab focus) and then zoomed right past me. Just about lost him out of the bottom of the frame so a heavier crop than I'd like and IQ isn't great but was pretty happy how well Group AF tracked this fast flying bird.

My wife and I were walking at Bloedel Reserve (Bainbridge Island) a while ago and I heard a chipmunk chirp. Actually, it was the chipmunk's last chirp. A few seconds later this barred owl appeared in a tree above the trail. I was carrying my D200 with a 28-105 and was fortunate to get a very underexposed shot that was rescued in post.

Dave--nice kingfisher shot. Another bird we've seen at Bloedel.

On another day a Butcherbird (Cracticus torquatus(?)) 300 - 400mm was making quite some noise.

Took Elmer for a little hike at Corral Lake and saw a pair of Rock Wrens hopping around. Not the ideal pose but the best one in focus with Elmer pulling me around....lol I will return to this spot without doggy in a day or two and hope for the best maybe see some Marmots also.

Here is few photos from one of my loops to the S.P. back in January about 7 miles or so. Nothing great photographically but a few nice looking critters on the D500, 200-500 combo. It was a pretty nice day when I needed one.

Great series Hut but I really like this Coyote shot and how his face still pops while he more or less blends into the surrounding grass. really nice image!

I remember that one got really close to me then the shutter made him think twice and eventually ran off with the others.

This would be a walking around in my socks kind of photo. Woke up in our rental cottage out on the Washington coast and looked out the window into the surrounding old growth forest to see this Douglas Squirrel perched on some mossy snags consuming pine cones. Grabbed the camera, opened up the window for some just out of bed shots

I routinely walk a trail at a local park which circles a small lake. Frequently, I'll carry my D5 with my 300PF and sometimes stick the 1.4TC in my pocket. I throw the camera over my shoulder and don't even know I've got it with me half the time. Occasionally, I'll see a shot possibility and go for it. Yesterday, this egret that I've seen so many times I've named him Dwayne was hanging out in shallow water at the beginning of my walk so I sat down on a tree stump to get to his level and fired off a bunch of shots. Below is the best of the bunch. Not bad for not trying. Any critique on how I could have processed this better would be appreciated. It's slightly cropped and I did some work on it in Lightroom because it was quite dark when I captured this image.
