Walking Around Photos

Any critique on how I could have processed this better would be appreciated.
Very nice image Paul.

In terms of processing I probably would have pulled the highlights down a bit either in LR or using the Shadow/Highlights tool in PS to take the edge off some of the brighter areas but the image works nicely as it is.

Thanks DR. The background brightness bothered me as well But didn’t know how the bring it down. I’ll give it A try and hopefully it will place greater emphasis on the foreground.

I have been busy lately but finally got to take a little hike today to start the new year down the right path. Here is a few photos with my Nikon D500, 200-500mm

I went for a walk at the Boynton Fishing Pier and was able to take this photo of a Pelicans in flight with people enjoying the Florida sun at beach in the background. I think from this vantage point, it looks like I'm flying with the birds.

Nice shot, Pelicans rule!

I grabbed a few shots of this Northern Mockingbird at an abandoned golf course which is conveniently located about 5 mins from home while on my way to run some errands. It was overcast, but I got some good looks. Shot with a D7500 and Tokina 300 F/4 AT-X + 1.4 TC.

Not a conventional walkabout photo, nor is the quality as good as I would like. I was walking in the Parque Nacionale de Doñana in September watching the rice being harvested when this lot descended on the fields. Hundreds of White Storks, Great Egrets, Grey Herons, Black-winged Stilts and Eurasian Spoonbills seen here in flight. I planned to revisit in November but thwarted by Covid. I will return!

I finished my project at work this week and decided I needed a couple weeks off to recharge my batteries. So, I took the D850, 500PF out for a little hike today in the snow and cold and spotted a North American Beaver along the river bank.

San Diego has several coastal lagoon habitats that are great for seeing wildlife; mostly birds. What you see varies by season and time of day; some days there is nothing, other days there are so many different species one gets overwhelmed. One early morning I found this rock wren hopping about the grass wet with morning dew.
