I was driving down a gravel road that bisects a large forest in my area. I just came from a water reservoir watching osprey feed, when I noticed something in the woods. Against my better judgment I stopped to say hi. The camera was sitting on the passenger seat so I said why not. I slowly pointed the lens out the window. Thinking she was going to leave I never changed the settings. I tried to auto focus but the D500 was not having it with all the clutter. Slowly I rolled the focus ring until something became clear in the viewfinder. Rolled off a few shots then put the camera back down on the seat and drove away. She never flinched and watched me drive away like I was a long lost friend saying goodbye.
When I got home and went through the photos of the day the better half liked this picture the best. I didn't spend much time on it thinking it was no good. The settings were all wrong. The camera and lens were wrong. If I had known she was going to stay there and offer tea I would have grabbed the D850 and 300pf out of the bag but I didn't have any crumpets to offer so I was pushing my luck with her already. The wife wants a print of this so what she wants she gets. I will run this through some denoise before I print. My question is do you think this works and is there anything you think to improve it. I did some slight global edits and no cropping. D500 600mmf4E+1.4TC 1/2500 sec. f/6.3 iso 2000

Nice shot but your shooting thru to many branches this photo can never be sharp. I think we all at one time or the other have had this type of photo nice shot but to much grass or branches blurring are photos.

It look like you have the right Idea Keep shooting.

I never expected this to be sharp. As a matter of fact I was surprised that I got anything out of it at all. The wife likes it so I like it.
