Many people are unaware that the Reddish Egret also has a white morph but they are uncommon. We were in Fort Meyers Beach yesterday and we came across one fishing for dinner. Just before sunset and what sun was left was casting a gold color on the water. The adult will have a two tone bill. Juveniles will be all black. This one was vibrating his leg causing the ripples and trying to scare up the fish.
BTW, Usually news reports exacerbate the bad in their photos. The destruction that we saw at Fort Meyers Beach was overwhelming form Hurricane Ian. In this case the news reports and photos were grossly underplayed. The place truly looked lake a war zone.
