I have had good success at Shark Valley, off US 41 but it’s been a while since I’ve been there. And key largo / John Pennekamp but that might be crowded by spring break.

The Everglades offers everything from Manatees, to alligators and hundreds of species of birds. A drive to Key West (a little over 100 miles) will take in the entire Florida keys allowing for incredible diversity in ocean and land based critters, including unique ones like the Key deer (a smaller version of the White Tailed Deer). There are several wetlands on the mainland such as Loxahatchee, Green Cay, and Viera Wetlands that are near Miami and shelter abundant birds and animals such as alligators and turtles.
