This is my first post on this forum although I've been a fan of Steve's for a long time and have most of his ebooks.
I've been looking through some images from a 2019 trip to Alberta and hoping the border will reopen soon. I had to postpone two trips from last year (loons in July and polar bears in October). Now rescheduled for this year. Keeping my fingers crossed.

We got lucky with this one as a long freight train approached just as we arrived. It looks like it was traveling toward the camera but, in fact, was heading the other way. The engine was the last car on the train.

Welcome!!!! Really nice landscape, especially with the train! I'm hoping to do a loon trip in 2022....... as they were booked this year due to cancellations last year. GEEZ! Hope cancellations this year don't bump me to 2023! LOL!

The last car would be called a helper. The freight is either very long or is traveling through terrain with grades. Railroads put helpers in the middle and end of trains to help the motive power at the front. Nice image.

Thanks for the info. I just looked at your smugmug images. Truly inspiring work.
