Z6ii White Balance Shift from Lightroom to Photoshop

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

I've hunted through Adobe forums and have seen this problem reported multiple times but I've yet to find a solution.

I just got a Z6ii and did a bunch of test shots with it and imported them into Lightroom and they look great. But when I go to edit them in Photoshop the White Balance has a huge magenta shift (see photo). How do I stop that from happening? Everything I've read speaks to the fact that the Z's store edit information in the Raw file that Lightroom picks up, but I would expect all of that to carry over into Photoshop and it doesn't appear that it does.

Thanks in advance.

Holy Moley, that is crazy! Can't suggest anything but easy to see the concern. I'll follow this as I am curious

I'm an Photoshop user and I have never used Lightroom software

You might check your preferences for the external editor in Lightroom and then double check your color settings in Photoshop, though the latter should be fine. Lightroom develop module works in a version of prophoto color space. So make sure you set the external editor to tiff, prophoto rgb, 16 bit. When you click in Lightroom to edit in Photoshop, that is what it will send to Photoshop. At that point it is no longer a Nikon raw file but now it is a 16 bit tiff with Prophoto embedded. Photoshop should already be set to keep whatever color space the incoming image already has. If it isnt somebody changed the default..

Well, after 4 hours of Adobe "Support" (the last hour actually was) and three heart attacks later I finally have the problem solved and (I think) access to all the parts of my work flow I had before.

Long story short, they said they had to uninstall everything Adobe - yes EVERYTHING Adobe - and install from scratch. After a promise that they wouldn't lose any of the various piece parts of my workflow that I've collected over a decade I was ready to kill when I was told, "I need to know what's missing", when I told them that NONE of my customizations were there. Toolbars, actions, links to 3rd Party software, presets - in both Photoshop and Lightroom. The guy said he couldn't put the stuff back without reintroducing the error. I erupted, and managed to get to the top of the food chain. No answer to what broke but at least now it ain't. I just need to make sure I don't empty the trash for a few days in case I notice something else they didn't put back.

No good now, but FWIW, I backup my PS brushes, presets actions etc. Started doing this when a PS update wiped everything without warning. I still do it when I add new stuff but at least they now warn if an update will wipe your customised things. Don't do it in LR (maybe I should) as I don't have much customisation in LR and what there is, is not complx, so easily re-done.

I back up everything and had done a complete backup (I use Carbon Copy Cloner on my MacBook) and I was ready to just do a restore because there was so much missing and I'd taken their word that they'd get it back. I'm ready for disaster, but when "support" facilitates the disaster then I lay the cleanup on them.

Yes that is a real bummer. I'm fortunate in that I have an excellent local computer guy who I've been involved with for well over 35 years now. I've bought all of my computers from him and he custom bulds to suit what I need - and they are easily modified before needing updating. He has got me out of the smelly stuff on more than one occasion and I've never lost anything - ever, and he is great value. I trust him completely with my kit. He has even sorted an issue out in under 2 hours when I was in deep s**t.
