Z9 ship date

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

My email was dated and received within minutes after I completed my order, very early on the 28th. If an order placed after 8:30 a.m. were to arrive 1/6/22, either B&H has gotten or will get a whole lot of cameras by that date. On the other hand, there's a reason not to accept anything B&H tells you over the phone about the availability of high demand cameras.

I tend to agree with this, but it's possible that B&H is expecting a shipment to arrive on 1/6, without knowing how many Z9's are in it.

As I said in my original comment above the B&H guy said shipping on 1-6-22 not arriving. And I have no way of knowing how accurate the persons information is.

Finally got one piece lol.

If true, that's great news for a great many of us! let's hope it is.
My regular brick and mortar store in Idaho just got 3 ... 100-400 z mount lenses on 1-17-21. I am not planning on any more z mount glass other than the 14-30 wide angle I bought for my wife and I get to borrow it some day. The Tamron 100-400 she uses on her Z50 does a great job so will give mine a try on the Z9 first.

I placed an NPS order for Z6 II in early Nov or was it late Oct. Still no sign of it. I assume that they are putting 100% of their resources against the Z9

Are they making the FTZ II available to keep the masses calm. If we get an adapter then the camera must be coming soon :ROFLMAO:
Maybe, but people are going to start receiving their cameras this week so that should help too. Unfortunately I’ll be waiting until at least January for mine 🙁

on a positive note, at least their should be ,ore feedback out their soon.

and if you wait till Dec 2022 or Dec 2023 there will be a ton of reviews. Just keep waiting, more reviews/feedback

i think they don’t want people to start getting cameras where there are no key accessories available.
Neither do I. My FTZ II is sitting in the back of my camera store's stock room waiting for a Z9 to join it. I would rather have the FTZ sitting in my case with no camera to attach it to than having a Z9 in my case without a lens to attatch it to.

Just checked with my camera store and they told that they have not received a list of NPS allocation yet. With only 4 days to go, I suspect that Nikon is struggling how to handle to huge demand.

I just received this email a few minutes ago and it certainly doesn’t give much hope for the general population receiving the Z9 any time soon.

A VERY Small Z9 Camera
Shipment will be made on 12/22
The first delivery of new Nikon Z9 cameras
will be sent overnight on Wednesday,
to arrive at stores on Thursday 12/23!

At the direction of Nikon, most Z9 cameras in this delivery were allocated for specific Nikon Professional Services members.
In addition to NPS deliveries, we're told that
each dealer in the USA will receive just ONE camera
for their general inventory.

Small, but more frequent Deliveries will be made moving forward
We've already been told to expect another delivery
in mid-January 2022, that will be a mixture of
NPS & regular Z9 allocations.

And, there is also the possibility of a delivery
earlier in January - but it is uncertain at this time.

All regular (non-NPS) deliveries will be offered to customers on our pre-order list in chronological order.

Nikon allocates all NPS cameras to specific photographers, at their discretion. As an authorized Nikon dealer,
we must comply with Nikon's direction. All other cameras are delivered to our customers in strict chronological order.

NPS members who have been allocated Z9 cameras in both December & January, have already been notified in a separate email.

With Nikon Z9 deliveries finally a reality, the news is exciting for some & disappointing for others. We want you to know that Nikon USA is doing everything possible to deliver cameras to their dealer network ASAP. And as the largest independent Nikon reseller in the region, Service Photo will be able to deliver your Z9 faster than other sources.

We'll let you know more about your placement on our pre-order list, along with our expectations for future deliveries.

We have hundreds of Nikon Z9 cameras on order with Nikon USA. So while we're happy to take care of our
NPS customers this week, we're also frustrated to receive only ONE camera for our general allocation. We speak
to someone at Nikon USA almost daily - and we know that they are working hard to deliver cameras quickly.
We will keep you informed of any new developments - and as we receive Z9 deliveries,
we will deliver these cameras to our customers in chronological order ASAP.

Thanks for your patience & understanding!

bummer. i might be within the first five pre-orders at my dealer, but it’s pretty unlikely i’m first 🤣. oh well 🙃
Looking like it’s going to potentially be a very long road. If they don’t update the gen 2 bodies, I’m out! No matter what material shortages, worker shortages, chip shortages or any other excuse, if they weren’t ready to release the camera then it should have been delayed until they could fill orders.

If you put this message together with the NPS general announcement, it appears that Nikon is giving a much higher priority to NPS than usually is the case. I speculate this might be due to the upcoming Winter Olympics -- Nikon is planning to fill all existing NPS orders two weeks before the Games.

But there is some good news in here for we non-NPS folks: after mid-January almost all of the deliveries will be for general stock. That means the general preorder list may well tick down fairly quickly, or at least at a reasonable pace. I'm somewhat optimistic.

I hope you’re right but it’s certainly not looking too promising. I think no matter what, some people will be several months getting one.
