Z9 ship date

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

Well, I dont even want to guess when I'll get my order. Not anytime soon I suspect. Just got this message from my retailer

Hi Cor, You are 44 out of 58 orders at this time for the Toronto location.

I'm guessing April. April 1 would be a little too obvious - how about April 14? :)

With my own NPS orders I had found that B&H provided no visibility and did not even maintain a separate NPS order queue, something they have since fixed. At that time I placed all my orders with Berger Bros instead and Lisa has been fantastic as tracking orders and I could call her and know exactly where I was in the queue.

With regard to trucker shortages it is because of the deregulation of the trucking industry with the Motor Carrier Act of 1980 signed into law by President Reagan as a payback for his campaign contributors. As a result trucker income has decreased by more than 50% and the average gross income is now at $47,000 a year. They may have to wait several hours to pickup or drop off a load and they are not paid for that time. They get no lunch breaks and most carry a camp toilet to have a place to relieve themselves. Many are homeless and live out of their trucks. Small wonder that the industry has had driver shortages for the past 40 years. Globalization and reregulation has greatly increased profits for the likes of Warren Buffett but it is at the expense of the workers and their families and their communities.

Getting back to the Z9 I would expect that Nikon is devoting as much of its available resources to cranking them out as fast as possible as it has to be their highest profit product at this time. These are also small enough and light enough to ship via air freight and bypass the problems with the cargo ship monopoly and the port congestion.

I’m not familiar with the impact positive or negative of the Motor Carrier Act of 1980, but it was signed into law by Jimmy Carter, Reagan took office the following year.

Non-NPS, pre-ordered on Oct 28. My local camera store notified me that my Z9 was in today and I immediately went and picked it up. The guy at the store told me that I was their first non-NPS delivery and it was the only Z9 in the shipment that arrived yesterday.
my wait continues .... I got the extra battery I ordered much later today :) Now I have an FTZ adapter and no Z9, a Z 1.4TC and no Z9 or Z100-400 to use it on, only accessory missing is the extra battery charger I ordered.

My wait is over, picked up the Z9 yesterday which was the second NPS distribution to my favorite Camera Dealer. Now the fun begins getting the Camera settings set up for BIF photography. Shooting the Z7 II for the past 5 months is making the transition easier. Today when I focused in on a group of Canada Geese and the little yellow box jumped to the black coloring on the Gooses head from 40 yards out that made me smile......

Like Charlie and other members who are not NPS, thrilled to get the call yesterday and receive today from Samy’s Camera, our local Southern CA dealer. Was on an informal list early Oct, then finalized Oct 28. Also received my order for two extra batteries. Been following the threads here and on Nikonians about availability, as much as I love B&H, sure seems our favorite local dealers are the ticket. Best to each of you.

Wish I would have discovered Samy's earlier. I have gotten several accessories from them but my order for camera and 100-400 to them much later. My local Idaho dealer is 5 hours away at 80 mph with good roads and they have great in person service but no online ordering and tough to get to in the winter sometimes 1 or 2 day shipping and Samy's usually 2 days shipping to Boise my almost local dealer.

That sounds promising. I put a deposit on one at Samy’s in Pasadena on Oct. 24 then paid in full on Oct 28 when the price was announced. I’m hoping to snag it before I head to Ecuador in late February for two months.

Hoping your place in the queue comes up very shortly, in plenty of time in advance of a no doubt fabulous trip. BTW, Santa Ana is my store, but that shouldn’t impact what I assume is a single wait list for all of Samy’s.

Still no date to WEX photographic here in UK, from Nikon. WEX not being drawn as to where I stand in their queue. I ordered 28/10 or 10/28!! Any word of any in Uk customers’ hands?

Just got word today that the next Oz shipment is small and i probably won't be getting mine in that one...
I'd prefer Nikon to ship smaller lots more frequently, which should get cameras into customer's hands sooner. Waiting for a large inventory to ship would mean more people get a camera at a particular time, but at the expense of some of them waiting longer to get them.

If Nikon were shipping by air freight, instead of surface, it makes sense that they would ship this way.

I'm first in line with a UK dealer for non-NPS and I haven't heard a thing yet. I got my FTZ II and 100-400 Z before Christmas. It seems like very few made it to the UK for the first shipment and I have seen almost nobody saying they've got one since. I was expecting things to be a bit slow because of the general global electronics issues but I can't say I'm thrilled with just how much Nikon has prioritised other regions. I don't really feel like "Doesn't it suck that so many went to USA?" will go down terribly well on any forums given that so many forum users are probably delighted with that result!

Same story here in Norway too. Hardly any shipments of Z9 has made it here yet and the camera store where I placed my preorder was afraid it would take several months to fullfill all preorders. Their main concern was that they wouldn’t be able to deliver to all their 120 preorders at all this year. Where I am on the list of preorders I don’t know, all I know is I preordered as soon as they opened up for preorders.…

understand your though... when i say small, it's 12 units only! they probably only been 200 absolute max... probably 100, and Australian orders would be filled.
