Z9 Teaser Trailer Just Dropped in Australia

If you would like to post, you'll need to register. Note that if you have a BCG store account, you'll need a new, separate account here (we keep the two sites separate for security purposes).

I hadn’t expected them to focus the first teaser on a fashion shoot - probably a reflection of the higher resolution sensor versus prior flagships. It does make sense, those new flagships like A1 and Z9 have a broader useability than a 20mp sensor.
I agree - you'd think they would have gone right for action work of some sort to really show off. However, Nikon marketing has always been awful. At lest they used the Z9 in this teaser - remember the D6 teasers where all the did was tell you how great the D5 was?

More teasers will come, another 3, maybe they will show the Z9 within different contexts ... lets wait :)

Absolutely nothing wrong with the choice of context on this first teaser - I was just reflecting on the fact that it is not action photography and that is in itself telling of the new direction for flagship cameras. I don't infer anything else from that and I do imagine we will see more teasers coming with different contexts.
But it's a bit like Hasselblad releasing a new camera and choosing to showcase BIF photography in their first teaser - not what you'd expect :)

What a teaser, left the veritical flip screen right until the end. That is a feature I have wanted on my Nikon Z 7 and miss it so much after my fully articulating Olympus screens.

Looks like I am sold already.

Fuji has been using those tilt screens since the release of their original GFX 50s in 2017. Hardly innovative on Nikon’s part, but nice to see none the less, even if it does add some bulk. Drive dial only has low and high, no medium and the 4 buttons on top of the drive dial are still in the worst location for actually using while shooting. Speaking of buttons, I wonder how customizable those buttons are or if ISO, qual, WB, magnification, etc. are all hardwired to perform only those functions. Are they still primarily going to limit customization to just the Fn buttons? EVF looks like the smaller/standard .5 inch size (R3 is also still using this size) vs the larger .64 inch of the a7S III and a1. I don’t think anyone doubts it won’t perform, the question is will it be enough and how will it’s performance/price compare to its peers?

From Thom Hogan, for what it's worth. " I expect the Z9 to be a tour de force based upon the snippets of information that have been shared with me. A strong statement of what Nikon can do. I do worry that it's being rushed a bit. And a buggy tour de force would lose some of its force. I also worry that the lenses aren't yet there to fully amplify the force. But I expect a really good camera to appear. Better than my D6 and A1. "

BETTER THEN MY D6 AND A1

If they can beat the a1 I’ll be impressed and welcome such a camera to the market. The a1 is the king of the hill right now and while new cameras have come out such as the R3 they fall short of knocking it off the hill. I think many under estimate just what it will take to best the a1.

I like his sentiment, but I have my doubts about the Z9 being better than the a1 or even the r3. History is just not on his side with that statement. Nikon has consistently been behind and now is a distant third in AF performance compared to the a1 and R3/5/6. I hope he's right since I'm planning to buy a Z9 - I'd like it to perform at that level - however, I think it's more likely to be at a9ii level. Again, I hope I'm wrong and I'm sure he has more sources at Nikon than I do (since I have, you know, none).

I do remember one of his earlier posts in which he said something like the Z9 will have features that are better than the A1 and some that are not as good as the A1 and i feel that's exactly how this is going to be...I still have my doubts about 30 FPS in full resolution and the AF being better than A1...If it can be as good as A9II, that's all that i want..

I feel the same since Nikon could not get its act together with Z l & ll versions compared to Sony's A9 & A 9 ii & Canons R5 folowed by R3 ( which is sub par compared to A1).
While I would also be very happy if Z9 beats A1 I doubt it seriously & hence getting A1 shortly
I also think Nikon's mature mirrorless cameras with matching tele lenses would be available only by end 2022
