This Was shot on Dec 26. Here is a capture of his mate shot on the same day just a minute or two later. The bright red male gets all the attention but I think the females have a beauty all their own

Oh I LOVE Chickadees…especially their calls…chick-a-dee-dee-dee-dee-dee…The state bird of Massachusetts is the Black Capped Chickadee and they are one of my favorites. They seem to be such cheerful little ones.

@Woody Meristem, what a beautiful bird. I had no idea that WNV affected birds. I just googled and read a report from Michigan where they have studied the affects of WNV on the ruffed grouse. Crows, blue jays and ravens are the most affected. Now I have even more reason to take care of standing water.Pennsylvania's state bird, the ruffed grouse. Unfortunately, due to west Nile virus it's rather scarce now.
