OK. Technically this is a terrible photograph. Taken through my kitchen window (screen too) I photographed some cardinals flying back and forth between a feeder and tree during a snowstorm. Had just purchased the camera (D7500) and wasn't even sure how to operate it, but it was my first time trying to photograph birds in flight. At the time it didn't even occur to me to use continuous, and I was in full auto mode. Missed most of the shots, but had this one of the card. Something about it I really liked, though it is the opposite of whatever tack sharp is. It is the photo that got me started in wanting to photograph birds in flight.

It would be a best seller as a holiday card. Very cool. Something tells me that some of the best shots are accidents….but we’ll take em!

I think the shadow of the Swallow is tack sharp! Maybe! Ok .. not really but I thought I try. 1/1000 is not fast enough. My mistake.

Went back to my local spot (4/30/2022) and as I was leaving around 7:00pm, this happened. I was somewhat out of positions all twisted in a knot as I happened to look back and it was coming in hot. Cropped to 50% of actual image.

Sony A6600, F9, ISO 6400, 1/2500 sec. FE 200-600mm at 600mm
