This is the male of the breading pair that have been hanging out in a local wooded park.

This was shot with a Nikon D850. No cropping and very little adjustments in Lightroom other that sharping and a little brightness.

Nice shot and find. I never find an owl who doesnt have a branch in front of him, especially full daylight. Still waiting for my full face shot!

Yes you are right always a branch. The mating pair we have seem to hang out in the branchy areas of my backyard . In the late afternoon they get hassled by crows and I think they use the branch's to limit the entry and exit out of there area for defense.

KertT Full face shot like this.

Yeah like that. Yours is a leaf not a branch. I would have to hire a tree service to see the owl in most of my outings ! :)Rub it in.... someday I'll get my owl. Actually when reviewing old slides, I found a slide of an owl in my kids tree fort I forgot I took a picture, I was 8 ft from it. I guess I did get my owl-25 yrs ago or so! Ill have to scan it so I can join the club.
