Green Frog. The size of the eardrum indicates a male. Beautifully as I sat quietly cleaning the swamp gunk off my Z9 the half dozen or so of these frogs I'd spotted started to croak to each other; one of my favourite sounds of nature.

Nice shots, Steven. Plucked banjo strings, indeed. It was a whole new experience for me when I heard them the first time after emigrating to Canada 22 years ago. I had never heard similar frog noises back in the old country.

Thanks! Yah, there are frogs that 'sing' but these guys (and the invasive bullfrog) ain't them :) I grew up in a house that had a marsh just beyond our backyard and there were hundreds of these guys which made for an amazing chorus (or is that 'noise'!).

great shots. I, too, love to listen to them. I think it is a chorus more beautiful than any human has ever written.

Moments like you described are why I'm eager to move to mirrorless and most likely will do so in the next year. A chorus of frogs just begs for video. My D500 is, well, let's just say, not the best choice for video. :)

Thank you. And once again it never occurred to me to use the video on my camera; good idea!

I too had a swamp just outside my back yard fence. What a joyous noise the frogs made. Now the swamp has been filled in, and houses cover where it was.
