I will post more photos from my March 31 evening and April 1 morning visits to the Saint Augustine Alligator Farm (SAAF) in this thread. Here is a shot of a Snowy Egret in breeding colors: the yellow-orange feet and the red face. There were a lot of these birds at t he SAAF, and I hope that when I go back in about five weeks, there will be plenty of chicks on the nests.

Outstanding especially the control of the whites on the Snowy.
Thank you, Rick S. I'd like to take a lot of credit for that, but the Z9 did most of the work. Among the three photos posted by me in this thread, that egret shot required the least processing.

With the quality of the pictures, the F mount 600mm does nicely. Have you found any down side?
Not really. It is a bit on the heavy side, but for this visit to the SAAF, it was married to a tripod. I'm planning to keep it for a while, as I'm quite pleased with it.

I will say that it was a bit too much lens a few times at the park, while the 500mm seemed a bit too short at times. With the boardwalk width being what it is, there is only so much backing up or moving forwards one can do. There were many more photographers there this trip than the last two times I'd visited, which also sometimes restricted where I could position the camera.

This Roseatte Spoonbill is on a nest at eye-level and promises to be a great photo opportunity when, and if, the eggs hatch. This bird got no support from another adult, that I saw, all of the time I was at the park. I only saw it leave the nest when a Snowy Egret was very active and got too close to this nest, causing this bird to get up off of the nest and to ascertain her dominance over the Snowy Egret.

It was only after I returned home and started looking at my images that I noticed the damage to the upper bill.

And this Spoonbill got off of the nest long enough to show a bit more of itself than is visible upon the nest...

This may be the last post in this thread, at least for a while, as I'm quite busy helping my daughter move into her new home, and also getting ready for my photo trip to the Florida peninsula, starting Saturday. All while I also work my "day job!"

So here goes.

This egret was, and continues to be a favorite of my previous trip...

Is anyone else reminded of the scientist from the Back To The Future movies when they see this pose?

Thanks for looking, and good night.
