Shot last month at the "widgeon pond" in Socorro. Meta data does not tell me my frame rate but if I look at the time stamp in NX Studio, I think I was shooting at 10 FPS

Nice shots! And yes, re the Z9 tracking, and it seems to get better with each firmware boost!
Thanks Steven. I am pleased with the Z 9 eye tracking. If only I could track the bird (keep it in the frame) as well as the Z 9 holds focus

Nicely done. Yes the AF is much improved compared to this time last year. It still seems to be a bit slower than the A1 but not enough to be meaningful. And tracking is now on par. Or nearly so.

Thanks. I don't have an A1 but to hear the comparison.

I have found an improvement since the last firmware update - so many photos in sequence that are keepers I don't know what to do with them all
- cool pics you shared

MY solution for too many keepers is

1 When I cull, I tend to be aggressive
2 Buy larger disks. My photo storage is an OWC thuderbay 4 w/ 4x16TB drives run as a Raid 5 netting me 48TB of usable space. Not half full yet.

Holy thread revival! @RichF Are you using your OWC for working files or for backup? How has the OWC performed? I am currently working G-Tech G-Drives (which are higher priced) but the old one has experienced a controller failure.

I wonder how lens dependent this is. In hundreds (maybe thousands at this point) of shots I've never once had the Z8's subject detection pick up the eye for a BiF, even when they are decently sized. It does reliably pick up the bodies and at least the camera AF sticks with them (I think my lens AF lags behind what the camera is saying a bit) but it's never even tried to grab the eye for me.

i use OWC as both. As a primary storage, works well. Blackrapid speed test (on idle machine) show 500+MB/sec write and 60+MB/sec read.
