Hey Mark, I looked to see if you had any pictures of Alpine Ibexes and didn't find any. I'm not familiar with them and would interested if you had any or if I'm just not looking the right way.I can imagine that too well.
I know this from our Alpine ibexes, which also display this behaviour.

Shot along Colorado Hwy 34 between Loveland & Estes Park - mid October. Also in Rocky Mt. Nat. Park where you can combine Sheep & Elk. Elk start earlier in September and are winding down by mid October.Fantastic sequence of images... I'd love to see this behavior in the next few years.
