Although I have been a member of the BCG forums for quite some time, I have not posted any images. But, an end-of-year opportunity to share some of my favorite photos is hard to resist. I photographed
1. The basilisk lizard eating a snake in Costa Rica
2. The Spot-billed toucanet tossing a palm fruit in the Atlantic rainforest of Brazil
3. The cormorant catching a catfish in the Cano Negro Reserve in Costa Rica
4. The Great Gray Owl and chicks in central British Columbia
5. The White-tufted Marmoset in Brazil
6. The sora in BC
7. The lion in the Borana Conservancy in Kenya and
8. The Brown Pelican from the beach near Puerto Vallarta.

There are so many excellent wildlife photos showcased here. I hope that 2024 brings everyone many opportunities to get out in nature to observe and capture its beauty.

Amazing images here. Since I didn't shoot much this year, I only have one image that I really like. While at Bosque del Apache earlier this month, there was a pair of White-tailed Kites that stole the show. However, they were about 100 yards away. I had good light and used my Sony a1 and 200-600mm lens. I had a sharp image but it was but a small speck in the image. I used Topaz Gigapixel (something I rarely use) and got this image which I was amazed at how it turned out. The full size image is much better.View attachment 77698

I still have not reviewed all of my images from early December. Now I am wondering if I don’t have a picture of these birds, as like you say they were pretty far off.

Your first image of the orange-breasted bunting is really lovely. I'm glad you kept some of the flowers so we could get a sense of the bird's environment. All of the others are very strong as well. From another "newby," Kathy

I truly salute your skills and patience - I tried shooting some Black Swans on the Swan river in Perth, Australia yesterday - they are big and were 20 - 25 paces away, yet even with a 200-400 you battle to 'fill the frame'
